The Sovereigns… We Hereby Dub Thee “Our Pub”

The Sovereigns WokingThe Sovereigns in Woking… you shall be our pub and we shall be your people.

One of the things we love most about visiting or living somewhere is finding “our” place. You know, like in Cheers (if you are old enough to remember that show) “where everybody knows your name”.

When we moved here, we immediately began our search for the pub we could call our own. Because doesn’t everyone need a pub? We went to The Sovereigns for our first pub visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. When trying others, we would agree that we didn’t love it as much as The Sovereigns but we had to try others to make sure we weren’t missing something. After several visits to other pubs, we officially dubbed The Sovereigns as “our pub”.

Sunday Roast at The Sovereigns has become a mandatory tradition for us. We just have to make sure we get there early before they run out. Not to worry, though, should they run out there are plenty of other menu options that will please your palate.

We have worked our way through most of the menu options through two seasonal menus with no regrets. We proudly take our guests there. With good ciders, beer wine and good food, and friendly service, what’s not to love? It is a chain pub, part of Ember Inns, but it doesn’t have a chain pub feel.

While they don’t offer specific gluten-free options on their menu, they do have an allergy specific menu that is helpful. The owner, Chris, is knowledgeable about allergy issues and he knows the ingredients in each recipe. The fact that they are educated in this area is very helpful.

They have good parking in the back for £2 and you can get your £2 back if you take half of your parking ticket up to the bar. It is an easy 5-minute walk from the Woking train station.

You probably don’t live in Woking but should you pass through, I highly recommend a stop in at The Sovereigns. And if you can’t make your way over, I encourage you to find a pub you can call your own.
